One point of contact, and a contract that names everyone
Bathroom Renovation NZ is the contracting party, so the Building Act implied warranties sit with us rather than being spread across three companies you found separately. One programme, one invoice schedule, one person to ring.
The partner crew, the plumber and the electrician are named in the contract and in the disclosure statement, with their registration details, before you sign anything. We do not publish a team page, because we are not going to fill one with stock photographs.

How much does a bathroom renovation cost in NZ?
A typical New Zealand bathroom renovation costs about $22,000 excl. GST, with most mid-range jobs between $15,000 and $35,000 and cosmetic refreshes from about $8,000 (CheckMyBuilder, July 2026). Small rooms do not simply scale down: Superior Renovations puts a small-bathroom full renovation at $15,000–25,000 as a New Zealand average, because the trade cost is largely fixed. Do I need a building consent to replace a tiled shower?
Usually not. MBIE Determination 2024/054 (2 October 2024) decided that a wet-area membrane under tiled shower walls is part of the internal linings covered by Schedule 1 clause 12 of the Building Act, so replacing a tiled shower in an existing dwelling did not need consent. The plumbing side sits under clause 35, as long as the total number of sanitary fixtures in the building does not go up and an authorised person does the work. Why pay for a visit when other companies come free?
Because a free visit is a sales call, and the plan belongs to whoever paid for it. Ours takes 60 to 75 minutes, includes moisture readings and a consent check, and produces a scaled plan and a line-item budget that are yours to take to anyone. Build with us and the fee comes off the job in full.
Who actually does the plumbing and the waterproofing?
A partner bathroom crew does the strip-out, carpentry, waterproofing and tiling. A licensed plumber does the sanitary plumbing, because the PGDB states homeowners cannot fix or unfix it and the Schedule 1 exemptions only apply to an authorised person. A registered electrician does the lighting and the fan. We are the contracting party and none of those licences are ours. How it works.
When do I pay?
Nothing until there is a fixed-price contract, and then in stages against work that has actually happened: 20% on signing less your visit credit, 35% when strip-out and rough-in are done, 35% when the membrane is photographed and tiling is complete, and 10% on completion released with the records pack. Pricing sets it out.
What if there's asbestos or rot behind the tiles?
WorkSafe says homes built before 1 January 2000 may contain asbestos, including in wet-area linings and under vinyl, and that the only way to confirm it is to test a sample. We flag it at the visit and nothing gets stripped out until it is settled. Rot is priced as a variation before it is fixed, which is why every budget carries a 15–20% contingency line (Superior Renovations).
